The heat leans on you, but you swear you won't burn.

About a year ago today I filmed my second music video, A Well Kept Secret.  That seems so long ago now.

I worked with Jeffrey Gariock of www.knowyouronions.ca who did my first music video, Literary Kings. The video you see below was not supposed to be the video.  There was a whole story filmed outside in the dark of January. But the clips didn't jive, so I said let's just keep the performance pieces.

We ordered pizza, set up a light in my parents living and basement, and just shot the entire video in an hour.  I sat on a stool and wore an old black dress that had been lurking in my closet.  That piano you see in the video has been in my family since the 1880's and it's where I write a lot of my songs.  It's very memorable that it's in this video.

The video at this time has reached about.. 5200 hits. Which isn't much but for an indie video shot in someone's basement, I think it's kind of cool :)

So Happy anniversary video of mine!  Glad that I have a visual way of sharing my songs.

I'm giving away some digital copies of my record.. interested?

Just reply to this thread!  Tell me ... a secret. It can be totally made up. Just make it juicy.

  6. When my marriage ended last year a part of me was secretly happy. Now all of me is. There is still many loose details to tie up and the division of assets, and figuring out the shared custody arrangement but despite all this I am a million times happier than I was for years. Hard truths are both hard but so very true.

  7. I get far too many crushes on people I can't date for one reason or another. Right now, a good friend's girlfriend is the main focus of this tendency. I've got it bad for her, but there's no way I could ever say anything without risking my friendships with both of them.

  10. Before I get to attempting to take advantage of your generous offer, let me first say that this was my first time hearing "A Well Kept Secret" (or any of your work), and I loved it. It was touching and poignant, and your voice carries the emotions of the song very well. I look forward to perusing back entries of your blog, and the Youtubes, to try to find more of you.

Now to the blatant pandering. (As if the above was not ALSO blatant pandering.) I suppose one of my "juiciest" secrets is that I wish I had more juicy secrets; the requirements of my profession (take a look at my twitter name, and take a wild guess as to what that is) are such that I really can't afford to be overly wild. That said, the juiciest thing I can come up with off the top of my head is probably the fact that I tend to find myself (perhaps a bit overly) attracted to artistic individuals. (This is NOT me hitting on you, I swear, just an observation about myself.) Most of the girls I have had crushes on have been in some way creative and talented, which in turn made them witty and challenging, which I find very attractive in a woman.
